Join a D3 Discipleship Group - Let's sharpen one another!

Do you desire to have a thriving walk with Christ? As followers of Jesus we want to grow closer to Christ.

Solomon wrote in Proverbs 27:17, “As iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another.”

The ministerial staff of First Baptist Church Franklinton has prayed about how we can sharpen each other and help one another in discipleship.
Starting the week of March 6th we will begin a new study in our
D3 Discipleship Groups.

The groups are composed of three (3)  individuals who will meet weekly.

D3 Groups have three purposes for gathering together.

The first purpose of D3 Discipleship groups is prayer. Prayer is essential in our walk with Christ. We are also to pray for one another. When a D3 group meets it is an opportunity to pray for each other specifically. A D3 group should be composed of individuals in which you can share your struggles. It is important to have brothers and sisters who can pray for you. It is written in James 5:16 that we should pray for one another.

The second purpose of D3 Discipleship groups is Bible study. This is a way of encouraging you to read and study God’s Word personally. Then when your D3 group meets you can discuss the Word of God together. We have developed a guide to help you read through the book of Romans. Each person of the D3 group will read a chapter a week and then discuss it when the group meets together. Paul wrote in Colossians 3:16, “Let the Word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom, teaching and admonishing one another…”

The third purpose of D3 groups is accountability. What is accountability? It is the commitment to help each other grow in our walk with Christ. In our D3 groups we make the commitment to build up each other for the glory of God. Accountability is not easy, but it is essential. If we are honest, we have not done well in holding each other accountable and helping one another in our walk with Christ. Paul wrote in 1 Thessalonians 5:11, “Therefore encourage one another and build one another up, just as you are doing.”

Each D3 Discipleship group will meet at a place and time that works for each member of the group. D3 Discipleship groups will not take place of Sunday School. This is merely an opportunity for us to sharpen one another. Solomon wrote that we need someone to help sharpen us. Let us sharpen each other as we seek to grow closer to Christ.
